Bringing Church Home: Sunday Toolkit

Bringing Church Home: Toolkit
We aren’t gathering at 5475 Ravine today. Instead, we are gathering in our homes across the city to celebrate who we are in Christ. Yes, the church has left the building!
So here’s a great opportunity. Invite someone you know to join you for church at home–one or two families from church, or a few friends and neighbors–and then “share the life” with them. What will it look like?
Below you’ll find a suggested order for worship with all the details. Where it leads from there, God only knows! This is a step forward following Jesus into our community.
Introduce yourselves, and respond to these questions:
Tell about a time you were blamed for something that you did not do.
Would you dare to tell us about a time you “got away with it” (did something wrong, but were never caught)?
CALL TO WORSHIP – Psalm 95
Psalm 95:6-7
Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.

WORD OF GOD – Exodus 20:12-17
- Pray for the Holy Spirit to lead and teach us from God’s Word today
- Have someone read the passage
- As it is being read, each person listen for / share a word or phrase that strikes them
- Have a different person read the passage from a different version
- Discuss the following questions (discuss Each Person’s response)
- What does this passage say about God or Jesus?
- What does this passage say (or imply) about people (including us!)
- What does this passage demand or call for from us?(how will I respond/change/rethink)?
- Who else in my life could I share this truth with?
SCRIPTURE – Exodus 20:12-17
12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.
14 “You shall not commit adultery.
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
.
PRAYING TOGETHER
- Encourage the group to pray aloud about the “response” commitment they made
- Ask if there are any other matters or people the group can pray about
- Allow the opportunity for those who wish (and are comfortable) to pray aloud (brief prayers)
BLESSING
1 John 4:11-12
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
